Brassicas

Acclaimed all over the world

The soils of southern Spain, where our farms are located, as well as the climate, are ideal for this type of vegetable. Thanks to this, to the wisdom of the Sol de Levante growers, we can offer broccoli, cauliflower or all kinds of cabbages, throughout most of the year and with an unbeatable flavour.

Broccoli is a flowering vegetable widely consumed all over the world. It is a very healthy food that provides us with vitamins and minerals that are very necessary for us to enjoy good health.

Product characteristics: It is rich in water, being up to 90% of its composition. It has macronutrients such as vegetable protein, carbohydrates and a very low fat content. Its fibre content is quite high. Of the minerals in broccoli we can highlight potassium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, sodium, iron, zinc and iodine. It provides us with vitamin C, E, niacin or B3, thiamine or B1, beta-carotene and folate or B9.

Cauliflower is a vegetable from the Eastern Mediterranean regions, specifically from the Near East (Asia Minor, Lebanon and Syria). In ancient times it was not consumed as a food.

Product characteristics: Cauliflower is a round, fleshy, large inflorescence. It belongs to the Cruciferae family, which includes more than 300 genera and about 3,000 species native to temperate or cold regions of the northern hemisphere. The term Brassica, the genus to which they belong, is the Latin name for cabbages.

Pointed cabbage is one of the many varieties of cabbage. Its contribution of nutrients and nutritional qualities are very similar to the rest of cabbages.

Product characteristics: Rich in vitamin A and C, minerals and antioxidants. Its consumption helps to prevent degenerative diseases, cancers and stimulates the immune system.

Savoy cabbage has wrinkled and curly leaves, green or slightly bluish in colour. The early varieties have a white colour and light coloured leaves, while the later ones have tougher dark green leaves with a stronger flavour.

Product characteristics: They are vegetables composed mostly of water, and very nutritious due to their richness in vitamins and minerals. This high water content makes them low-calorie foods.

Flat Dutch cabbage is characterised by its flattened shape and its sweet taste, with a high nutrient content and a high versatility in the kitchen. It is rich in vitamin C, minerals and antioxidants. Its consumption, like the rest of cabbages, helps to prevent degenerative diseases and cancers.

Kale is a variety originating from Asia Minor. A vegetable that has overtaken spinach and is becoming the queen of green products.

Product characteristics: Very similar to broccoli, cauliflower and Brussel sprouts, it has curly, dark green leaves.
